Airman First Class Roy Rogge was born in Baton Rouge.  He enlisted in the US Air Force and served in the United Nations Operations in the Congo with the 1607 Flightline Maintenance Squadron, 1607 Air Transport Wing out of Dover, DE.  He maintained the aircraft that transported UN troops in and out of the Congo and was a member of the Quick Reaction Force which resulted in several deployments worldwide, including Greenland and Niger. He received medals for National Defense Service, Good Conduct, Armed Expeditionary and the Air Force Longevity Ribbon. He currently lives in Abita Springs.
